What a Editor actually does

A editor is hired to own a slice of work neighbouring titles cannot fake on paper.

Studios, in-house brand teams, media houses, and remote clients hire on the work, then on whether you can take a brief. Africa-to-global freelance is common. Put the craft in the portfolio and the outcomes on the resume.

On a Editor resume, African and remote hiring teams look for revision rounds. Put that in the top third. Do not open with a personality paragraph. Do not invent a growth rate or salary band you cannot source.

Contact on a Editor resume

  1. 01

Name, city, phone with country code, professional email.

  2. 02

A portfolio URL that loads on a phone.

  3. 03

LinkedIn or Behance. One is enough if the work is there.

A Editor summary that earns the next line

Two or three sentences. Title, years, the environments you know, and one result. Then rewrite it in your voice. This is a shape, not a script to paste with someone else’s years.

“Editor with 5+ years across African and remote teams. Known for revision rounds. Comfortable with brand systems, motion or stills pipeline, print and digital specs. Looking for an editor seat where that work is the job, not a side task.”

Skills hiring teams look for in a Editor

Add a skill only where a job on this resume used it. A course homepage is not evidence.

  • brand systems
  • motion or stills pipeline
  • print and digital specs
  • feedback rounds

How you work

  • protecting the idea without sulking

Editor KPIs and OKRs that belong on a resume

KPIs are the numbers a manager already tracks. OKRs are bets you owned. Either can live in a bullet if you can defend it. Neither belongs as a fake salary or a regional growth statistic.

KPIs

  • production cost versus estimate
  • on-time delivery
  • revision rounds

OKRs

  • Turn one case study into inbound briefs you can name.
  • Ship a system other people can use.
  • Cut average revision rounds on a named client without lowering craft.

How to describe Editor experience

Reverse chronological. Achievements first. If a line could sit on anyone’s CV in the building, cut it.

Hold up in an interview

  • Delivered revision rounds as a editor, with channel, client type, or air date.
  • Moved revision rounds by changing the brief process, not by working overnight.
  • Handed off files another designer could extend.

Gets skipped

  • Created visual content for various clients.
  • Proficient in design tools.
  • Passionate about creativity.

What to include on a Editor resume

  1. 01

Name, city, phone with country code, professional email.

  2. 02

Write a editor summary that names years, domain, and one proof point you can defend.

  3. 03

Put production cost versus estimate in the experience block, not in a slogan.

  4. 04

Keep skills as words from jobs you actually did.
